Mr. John Alexander Hartline, 89, of Statesville, passed away, Wednesday, April 06, 2016 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Mr. Hartline was born August 23, 1926 in Iredell County and was the son of the late Josiah and Leona Allen Hartline. He was a graduate of Statesville Senior High School and served in the US Army during WWII. On May 24, 1958, he married Sara Whitener Hartline, who survives and was a member of First ARP Church in Statesville. Johnny worked and was retired from J.C. Penney Warehouse and he loved the beach, being outside, and especially walking or jogging at Mac Anderson Park. In addition to his wife of 57 years, he is survived by two daughters, Cynthia H. Burch of Statesville, Leona H. Sides (Gregg) of Statesville; one son, Joe Allen Hartline (Lori) of Corvallis, OR; two grandsons, Mark Alexander “Alex” Burch and Jacob Sides, both of Statesville, one sister, Sue Misenheimer of Statesville and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, David Hartline and five sisters, Ryta Sherrill, Bobbie Ritchie, his twin sister, Judy Brawley, Sally Hartline and Ruby Parlier. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016 at First ARP Church with Rev. Phillip McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 12:00-2:00 p.m. in the Bride Deaton Parlor of First ARP Church. Memorials may be made to First ARP Church or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
