John Franklin Current

John Franklin Current, 83, of Chapel Hill, NC and formerly of Statesville, died January 18, 2017 at his home. Born in Iredell County on July 28, 1933, he was the son of the late Luin Robert Current and Cleo Shoemaker Current. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Bill and Rex, and sisters, Margaret Johnson and Helen Green. Mr. Current was a retired model maker in the parts manufacturing industry. On March 31, 1954, he married the former Barbara Boyd, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Randy Current (Irene) of Gulf Breeze, FL, daughters, Cindy Current of Durham and Angie Sloan (Tim) of Chapel Hill.  Also surviving are a brother, Jack Current (Doris) of Cary, two grandchildren, Matt Holton and Max Sloan and several beloved nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Services celebrating Mr. Current’s life will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. J. B. Parker, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be: Donald Boyd, Barry Johnson, Richard Boyd, Mike Boyd, David Boyd and Johnny Boyd.
