Mr. John (Jack) Brenner, 83, of Statesville, died Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Heritage Place in Statesville. Born in Brooklyn, New York on January 23, 1936, he was a son of the late Bartholemew F. Brenner, Sr. and Ruth Warren Brenner. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Phyllis Christine Spuler, a daughter, Robin Brenner and a sister, Joan Brenner.
Mr. Brenner was a retired New York City Firefighter and was a member of Fifth Creek Presbyterian Church. He was a U. S. Navy veteran. Mr. Brenner was a very talented carpenter, an avid golfer, enjoyed billiards at the senior center, loved helping everyone and was loved by his nieces and nephews.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Brenner Jarman (Scott) of Fuquay Varina, N.C., granddaughters: Kristen Jarman and husband Joseph Shuford of Chapel Hill, Molly Jarman and Sara Jarman of Fuquay-Varina, along with brothers, Bartholemew Brenner, Jr. (Donna) of New Jersey, Robert Brenner (Carol) of Illinois and a sister, Lorraine Haberstroh (Fred) of New York.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 2:00 at Fifth Creek Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Steve Hanna and Rev. John Millholland officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.
