Mr. Joe Donald Parlier, 82, of Statesville, passed away Monday, July 1, 2013 at his home. Mr. Parlier was born March 27, 1931 in Statesville and was the son of the late Elisha Worth Parlier and Ethel Electa Chappel Parlier. He was a graduate of Statesville Senior High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In October 1950, he was married to Betty Ingram Parlier, who survives of the home. He attended Troutman Baptist Church, was a former member of Front Street Baptist Church and was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church. He served various roles as a Deacon, Choir Member and Sunday School Teacher. He was retired from Pitney Bowes after 35 years of service. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, who by his actions showed his love each and every day. In addition to his wife of 62 years, he is survived by two daughters, Donna P. Waugh and husband Tony of Statesville, Betty Jo P. Nicholson and husband Parker of Troutman, one son, Joel L. Parlier and wife Julie of Statesville, nine grandchildren, Chappel W. Miller and husband Grant, Austin Waugh and wife Brenae, Jefferson Waugh and fianc� Katie Warren, Thomas Nicholson and wife Kathryn, Ingram Nicholson, Callie N. Cross and husband Oliver, Seth Parlier and wife Jerica, Anna Beth Parlier, Luke Parlier and two great grandchildren, Weston Miller and Raleigh Cate Waugh. He is further survived by three brothers, Bill, Clyde and Frank Parlier and one sister, Dot Sims. Mr. Parlier was preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph Parlier and a brother, Paul Parlier. Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2013 at Troutman Baptist Church with Thomas Nicholson officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
