Joann Grubbs

� Mrs. Joann Cropper Grubbs, 68, of Statesville, passed away, Thursday, August 7, 2014 at her residence. Mrs. Grubbs was born June 14, 1946 in Pitt, PA and was the daughter of the late John Cropper and Nancy Arnold Kestle. She attended schools in Pitt, PA and on December 8, 1979 was married to Jesse Ellsworth Grubbs, Sr., who survives. Mrs. Grubbs was a homemaker and a member of St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Asbury (Terry) of Thomasville, NC, Linda Powell (Brian) of Lexington, NC, 17 grandchildren, one great granddaughter, three step-daughters, three step-sons, nine step grandchildren and one step-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by one sister and one step great granddaughter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 9, 2014 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church with Rev. Father Thomas K. Kessler officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home.
