Jerry Devene Hester, 72, of Lexington reached the end of his journey on December 6, 2020. He passed away peacefully at Hospice of Davidson County after several years of declining health, moving on to the light to meet his Lord. Jerry was bornJune 10, 1948 to William McKinley and Adilean Davis Hester. In addition to his parents and four brothers, Wayne, Ronald, Jimmy and Kenneth, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeremy Brian Hester. Surviving are his wife Jennifer Conrad Hester and son, Lance Conrad Hester. Jerry will be missed by extended family and friends who loved him and will always remember him for his crazy sense of humor. We found a note scribbled on a notepad that said he was ready to go and be free of pain, but he had one request, although he felt sure it wouldnt be granted. He wanted a BBQ sandwich placed on his chest before cremation....That was Jerry! Graduating from Lexington Senior High School, Jerry went on to honorablyserve his country in the U. S. Army. He worked for Old Dominion Freight Lines, which he loved, and only retired due to his failing health. He loved beach music, scuba diving, traveling and making people laugh. Due to the pandemic there will be no services or home visitation at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Dr. Phillips and the nurses at Forsyth Medical Center for their loving care and support. Also, to everyone at Hospice of Davidson County, we thank you so very much for your kind and gentle care. Thank you B B Funeral Cremation Services for your care and concern.
