Jed Lee "JB" Ball

Jed Lee “JB” Ball, 60, of Mt. Ulla, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. JB was born April 3, 1961 to the late Gurney Lee Ball and Lucy Neilson Ball.
JB was a graduate of Rowan County schools he was employed as a Radiation Protection Tech.
JB’s career in the commercial nuclear power industry allowed for him to make a living doing what he enjoyed, traveling, and meeting new people. JB was an animal lover and much like the people he met, never met an animal he wouldn’t feed. He was a funny man and loved making people laugh. He also had a passion for cooking and feeding everybody.
Although his career was a very important part of his life, it was only part of it. He was devoted to his fiancée of 29 years, Holly McKinney Tomlin, who survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Laura Atkinson (Frank) of sister, Mendee McCrary (Samuel). JB had a huge place in his heart for his nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly, Melissa “Wooley” Sorrells (Matt), Matthew Scarboro, Brandon Terry (Alaina), Chasitie “Chester” Terry and Jordyn Williams as well as his great nieces and nephews, Drake, Kaitlyn, and Kiera “Tato” Sorrells and Camron, Kaydance, and Blaisleigh Terry. Lastly, he leaves behind his K-9 companions, Sherlock and Penny and his ferrets, who he along with Holly fostered.
In addition to his parents, JB was preceded in death by a sister, Amy Scarboro and a nephew, Gregory Lee Terry.
A service to celebrate the life of Jed Lee “JB” Ball will be conducted at 4:00 PM Thursday, October 21 at West Corinth Baptist Church with Pastor Robert Suttles officiating. The family will visit with friends starting at 3 up until the service time.
