Jean Tharpe Hill

Jean Tharpe Hill, 77, of Harmony, was welcomed in Heaven with her family by her side at her residence on Saturday, September 5, 2015.                 She was born March 23, 1938 in Ohio and was the daughter of the late Chauncey Leasure and Dorothy Leasure. In 1957 she married the late J.C. Tharpe in which three children were born. In 1997, she married the late Dave Hill of Ohio.                 In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by daughter, Rebecca Tharpe Lipscombe, sisters, Esther Newman and Bonnie Ridenour.                 Jean worked many years as a CNA and 20 years as a self-employed poultry farmer. She had a passion for collecting trinquets, especially her chickens and pocketbooks. She also enjoyed working in her flower gardens and spending time with family.                 She is survived by her son, Doug Tharpe (Carolyn) of Harmony, a daughter, Kathy Shoemaker (Jr.) of Mocksville, grandsons, Jayson Futch, Hunter Tharpe, granddaughter, Taylor Tharpe and great grandson, Eli Futch all of Harmony, seven sisters, Kate Amann, Doris Imel, Sue Robinson, Linda Chaffin, Jenny Holbrook all of Ohio, Mary Williams of Georgia and Betty Steele of Florida.                 Funeral services will be conducted 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Grace Bible Church, Butler Mill Rd., Harmony, NC with Ken Sechler and Les Ratliff officiating. Burial will follow in the Harmony Cemetery.
