Mrs. Laura Jane "Janie" Rochester Johnson, 73, of Statesville, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, May 24, 2014 from an automobile accident. Mrs. Johnson was born January 8, 1941 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Dillian D. Rochester and Euphie Overcash Rochester. She was a graduate of Iredell County Schools and was a member of Friendly Chapel Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, loved farming and had worked for Showell Growers (Purdue). Mrs. Johnson is survived by one son, Grover Glenn Johnson, Jr. (Cindy) of Statesville, one daughter, Lisa Anette Johnson of Statesville, grandson, Michael Kelly Weatherman of Statesville, grandson, William Glenn Johnson of Statesville, step-grandson, William Brandon Laws of Statesville, two great grandchildren, Hunter Glenn Weatherman, Peyton Marie Weatherman and one brother, Percy (Sam) Rochester of Huntsville, AL. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Katherine Rochester Plendl. Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James "Babe" McLain and Rev. Bobby Eades officiating.
