Jamie Perry Cox, 84, of Statesville, died Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Born in Cabarrus County on December 26, 1931, she was a daughter of the late James Franklin Perry and Ethel Tabor Perry. Jamie was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church. She was a published writer, a columnist for the Charlotte Observer, enjoyed gardening, bridge and playing the piano. She was a former teacher and retired from the Iredell County Department of Social Services. She was a graduate of Meredith College. Survivors include a son, Dillard (Debo) Cox, III. of Nags Head, a daughter, Caroline Cox Mace of Asheville and a grandson, Jeremy Jordan Mace. The family sends special thanks to her lifetime friends and neighbors, All and J.L. Johnson. Committal services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Thursday at Oakwood Cemetery, followed by a memorial service in the sanctuary of Broad Street United Methodist Church at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Dr. Michael Gehring officiating.
