James A. Pierce, age 77, went home to be with the Lord on November 29, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones at his home in Lexington, NC. Originally from South Jersey, he was born to Hannibal Perry Pierce and Lattie Morris Pierce on May 2,1945, and lived in New Jersey for over 60 years before moving to North Carolina to be near his daughters and their families.
Jim was a jack of all trades and was a certified mechanic, welder, and electrician. After retiring, he loved to buy and sell at flea markets, priding himself in his ability to “wheel and deal.” He was the ultimate prankster and delighted in busting everyone’s chops.
He was the loving husband of Linda for 26 years, “Daddy” to Valerie Underwood, Jaime McDaniel (Ivey), and Andrea Redden, all of Lexington, and stepdad to Anthony Redden and Heather Redden (Carl), both of Pennsylvania. He was “Pop Pop” to thirteen grandchildren: Tori and Dylan Underwood, Nathaniel and Taylor McDaniel, Tori and Brianna Munyon, Nico Redden, Julian Ortiz, Jane and Declan Redden, Christian Reeves, Giana Morrison, and Joey James Dippel. He also had two great-granddaughters, Leilani and Milani. He was predeceased by his parents, four brothers, Walter, Marvin, John, and Lewie, two sisters, Bessie and Liz as well as his stepson Joey.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 221 Meadowview Rd. Lexington, NC with Pastor Avery Varnadore officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in New Jersey at a later date.
