James Carl Penley, 74, of Statesville, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2018 at his home.
Jim was born February 9, 1944 in Bristol, TN and was the son of the late Lee F. Penley and Lottie Penley. He was a graduate of Bristol, VA schools and in 1984, he married Georgie Eyvonne Morris Penley. He was a member of Friendship Freewill Baptist Church and was retired from Flowers Bakery. He loved his friends, family and watching NASCAR.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Renee Southard and husband, James of Statesville, one step-son, William Scott Boone of Salisbury and had eight brothers and five sisters.
A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2018 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Morris officiating. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 3:00-4:00 p.m. before the service.
