James "Jim" Michael Kuehl was born on March 4, 1961, in Tulsa, OK. He grew up in Raleigh, NC with his mother, brother, and sisters.
Jim met Tammy Powell, the love of his life, in January 1986. They were married in February. 1987. They had 3 wonderful daughters: Leigha K. Laws (Alex), Ashley K. Dyer, and Madison Kuehl (Ghalee Aquil). Leigha and Alex gave them 2 perfect granddaughters, Amaya and Adaline. The family shared 35 years of adventures.
Jim spent many years installing garage doors, but he found a passion for volleyball after watching all three of his daughters compete for many years. Jim became an USA Volleyball official. He officiated from the elementary to collegiate levels. He was even able to officiate his oldest granddaughter’s first volleyball matches.
Jim had a love of wood working, camping at the beach and being wherever his girls were. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. He will be missed by many.
Jim suffered a hemorrhagic stroke on Sunday, November 20th. He fought a hard battle but, sadly, passed away on November 29, 2022, at 1:55 pm., surrounded by the love of his family.
Jim is now resting on a beach somewhere, waiting for Tammy, to join him.
