James Thomas Josey, 84, of Troutman, died Sunday, May 13, 2018 at his home. Mr. Josey was born in Iredell County on April 2, 1934 and was the son of the late Avery Leonard Josey and Beulah Hayes Josey. He attended Elon High School.
Mr. Josey was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during the Korean War. On June 24, 1964, James married Bessy Mason Josey, who survives. He was retired from Blanton & Moore where he worked as a truck driver and was a member of New Bethany Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Anita Josey Williams (Donald) and Kelly E. Josey, both of Troutman and Stephanie Cook of AZ, two sons, Jimmy Francis (Kelly) of Holiday, FL and Jeff Francis (Shelly) of Elizabeth City, NC. He is also survived by six grandchildren, James Matthew Williams (Abigail) of Troutman, Ashton Williams, Michael Sanders and Avery Mason Josey, all of Troutman, Morgan and Jake Francis of Holiday, FL. He is further survived by two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Riley Williams of Troutman.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2018 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home.
