Mr. James Lewis Harris, Sr., 73, of Statesville, died Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Born in Iredell County on April 18, 1942, he was a son of the late Vander Lewis Harris and Bradie Myers Harris. James was retired first from the N.C. Dept. of Corrections and then as a painting contractor. He served his country in the U. S. Navy. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jamie Harris, a brother, John Harris and a sister, Sue Harris and a granddaughter, Kristina Johnson. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Allison Harris, a son, James L. Harris, Jr. (Kim) of Union Grove, two daughters, Teresa Hawks (Bill) of Statesville and Angie Richardson (Craig) of Fayetteville, Ark., two step sons Randell Nance (Marie) of Cleveland and Reagan Lee Nance (Teri) of Statesville. Also surviving are brothers: Robert Harris (Clara) of Mooresville and David Dewey Harris (Cathy) of Winston-Salem and sisters: Jean Sprinkle of Clemmons, Aileen Tulbert of Union Grove and Doris Eudy (Terry) of Mooresville. Additional survivors include 9 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leon Allison officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens, with full military rites presented by the Iredell County Veterans Council Burial Detail.
