Mr. James Carroll Guffy, 71, of the Cool Spring Community, passed away, Friday, December 30, 2016 at Forsyth Regional Medical Center. Mr. Guffy was born August 21, 1945 in Iredell County and was the son of the late Henry Allen Guffy and Hazel Johnson Guffy. He was a graduate of Cool Spring High School and was a lifelong member of Cool Spring United Methodist Church. On July 1, 1979 he was married to Marion Angela Fink Guffy, who survives. He was retired from V.F. Jeans Wear and was a retired member of the Cool Spring Volunteer Fire Department for over 40 years, but when he worked he was very active. James was a beef farmer, loved all his neighbors and would do anything for them and his family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a step-son, Gene Teeter (Linda) of Ft. Hood, TX, three grandchildren, Rebecca Ritch of SC, Kimber Teeter of LA, Mary Teeter of DE and one brother, Richard Guffy (Rosemary) of SC. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2016 at Cool Spring United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday evening 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home.
