James Franklin (Baldy) Barnett

April 12, 1948 — April 24, 2018

James Franklin “Baldy” Barnett, 70, of Statesville died Tuesday, April 24, 2018.  Mr. Barnett was born in Iredell County on April 12, 1948 and was the son of the late Harold Barnett and Almer Christopher Barnett.  He attended Iredell County schools and was married to Lisa Reep Barnett, who survives.

Mr. Barnett was self-employed as a car salesman and he attended Shady Rest Baptist Church.

Mr. Barnett was a man that never met a stranger.  He was also a man of his word and he said what he meant and meant what he said.  This was a trait that he passed down to his children.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Grady, Sambo, and Doodle Bug Barnett.

In addition to his wife Lisa, he is survived by his former wife, Pam Barnett whom he maintained a great relationship with along with, two daughters, Jada Thompson (Erik) and Amber Leigh Barnett and two sons, Tim Barnett (Holly) and Michael Barnett (Kelly).  He is also survived by six grandchildren, Briana Thompson (Shawn), Tori Barnett, Abigail Barnett, Steven Thompson, Daniel Barnett and Wesley Thompson along with two great-granddaughters Carson and Gracelynn Barnett.  He is further survived by a sister, Kay Payne (Cotton).

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday, April 28, 2018 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with a visitation starting at 10 am until 11 am at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens.  Online condolences can be made to the family at www.nicholsonfunerals.com and Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the family of Baldy Barnett.
