Mr. J C Sharpe, 93, of Statesville, died Thursday September 3, 2015 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Born in Iredell County on December 21, 1921, he was a son of the late Espy Grover Sharpe and Myrtle Mae Jenkins Sharpe. Mr. Sharpe was retired after 35 years as assistant superintendent for Superior Dairies and then worked for Flavor Rich in N. Wilkesboro for 8 more years. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Monticello Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and member of the maintenance committee. He was a quiet man who enjoyed gardening and sharing the produce that he loved to watch grow with others. He looked forward to attending his army reunions to see his army buddies again. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter and four brothers, Fred, Bill Mack and Jim Sharpe. On October 8, 1949, he married the former Peggy Orene Gilreath who survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Karen Drye and her husband, Jeff and a grand daughter, Hannah Leigh Drye. Services celebrating Mr. Sharpe’s life will be conducted at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Monticello Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Henderson officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. prior in the fellowship hall of the church. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery with full military rites presented by the Iredell County Veterans Council Burial Detail. Condolences may be sent online to the family to
