Inez Payne

Mrs. Inez Tweed Payne, 84, of Statesville, passed away November 24, 2014 at Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Payne was born October 18 , 1930 in Madison County, NC, and was the daughter of the late Aaron Tweed and Murphy Fox Tweed. She was a member of Monticello United Methodist Church in Statesville, and the wife of the late William Mack "Bill" Payne. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Payne was preceded in death by four siblings, Richard Tweed, Evelyn Myers, Willard Tweed, and Gladys Griffin. Mrs. Payne is survived by a son, William Kenneth Payne and fianc� Regina Pope of Statesville, a daughter Susan Payne Cornett and husband Douglas Cornett, of Roxboro, NC, a sister Vernell Vaughn, of Ohio, and brother, Wayne Tweed and wife Sue, of Marshall, NC. She is also survived by grand-daughters Holly Payne, Andrea Payne, Jordan Cornett, Madison Cornett, and Tabitha Pope, a great-granddaughter Saphira Holzworth and sisters-in-law Joan Meadows of Florida, and Ruth Hefner and husband Lonnie and Lib Nesbitt Payne, of Statesville, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 PM Friday November 28, 2014 at Monticello United Methodist Church with Rev. Jill Rhinehart, and DeWayne Tweed, nephew of the deceased, officiating. The burial will follow in Marvin Methodist Church Cemetery in Stony Point. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday evening at Nicholson Funeral Home in Statesville.
