Harry "Bunny" Withers Myers III, 61, of Statesville, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, February 7, 2014, surrounded by his family at the Gordon Hospice House. Born March 3, 1952 in Danville, VA., he was the son of Harry Withers Myers, Jr. and the late Nancy Setliff Myers. Harry was a graduate of North Iredell High School and North Carolina State University where he received his degree in agriculture. On August 27, 1983 he married Dena Chaffins Myers, who survives. He was employed by Corbion Caravan as a Senior Sales and Service Representative. He was also Vice President of Statesville Analytical, Inc. He enjoyed raising registered Herford cattle, traveling and spending time with his family. For twenty seven years Harry served as secretary-treasurer for the Southeastern District of the Association of Operative Millers. A life-long member of New Salem United Methodist Church, he served on the Parish-Parish relations Committee, was an Usher and taught Senior High School Sunday School for many years. In addition to his wife, Dena, Harry is survived by four sons; Eric Stephen Myers and wife Rebecca Bowden Myers of Apex, NC, Christopher Kyle Myers and wife Cara Lancaster Myers, of Tampa, FL, Garan Everett Myers and wife Robin Warren Myers of Mooresville, NC and Desmond Lelan Myers (Megan McCool) of Regensburg, Germany. Five Grandchildren; Jacob Thomas Myers, Hannah Annette Myers, Layla Charis Myers, Luke Benson Myers and Thomas Withers Myers. Four sisters, Diane Myers-Miller (Jeffery) of New Hampshire, Elaine Myers of Wilmington, NC, Karen Cranfill (Steve) of Chapel Hill, NC, Georgia Simonson (David) of Statesville, NC, along with many loved nieces and nephews. Special friends of the family: Rodney Stevenson, Jr. and Martha Minish also survive along with his beloved pet dogs Leon and Ringo. A celebration of life service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday February 11, 2014, at New Salem United Methodist Church with Pastor David Gay officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
