Hubert Franklin Hinson, 97, of Harmony, died Tuesday, July 16, 2019.
He was born in Yadkin County on May 5, 1922 to the late Weaver Franklin Hinson and Mary Morrison Hinson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Mae Gaither Hinson, 1 sister; Catherine Hinson Gaither and 2 brothers; Edwin Gray Hinson and Feimster Sims Hinson.
Hubert graduated from Harmony High School and was in the US Army during WWII. While serving his country he became a Squad Leader within 3 months and was a decorated War Veteran and recipient of 2 Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal and a Medal of Valor. He retired from the JC Penney Warehouse as a shipping and receiving clerk. He also had a cattle farm, enjoyed volunteering and was a member of the American Legion, Lion’s Club and the VFW.
Those left to cherish his memory are a daughter; Gail Hinson, a granddaughter; Olivia Hinson, both of Union Grove, a brother; Gilmur Hinson of Jonesville, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Hubert will be held Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 10:00 am at Harmony United Methodist Church with the Rev. Chris Lakey officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Harmony Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 9:00 am to 10:00 am prior to the service.
