Homer Felix Bass of Statesville, went home to be with his Lord & Savior on Thursday, January 22, 2015. He was loved by everyone who knew him. He was a living example of God's love even on his bed of affliction for 4 years, his life was a testimony he was a prayer warrior for all. He died at his home where he was taken care of by his loving family. People who visited to encourage him left encouraged. He was born in Iredell County to the late Jeanette Speaks and William Philmore Bass. He attended Iredell County Schools and retired from J. C. Steele and Sons. He was a member of Statesville First Wesleyan Church where he held numerous positions including teaching Sunday School for 50 years and served as a lay pastor. He won many souls to the Lord. He just celebrated 60 years of marriage with the love of his life, Betty Bennett Bass who he married on January 8, 1955. He is survived by two daughters, Sherry McCall (Marvin) and Kimberly Markham (Mike Maybeerry), and three sons, William Michael Bass, Timothy Scott Bass and Rodney E. Bass(Rebecca) all of Statesville. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren: Matthew Bass, Kayla Bass, Angela Mathewws, Christina Miller, Todd Bolton, Shannon Bolton and Christopher McCall, 11 great grandchildren, along with a brother, Andrew Jack Bass. He was preceded in death by one sister Jeanette Wedenfeller. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Nicholson Funeral Home. A service celebrating Homer's life will be held on Monday at First Wesleyan Church at 2:00 with Pastor Frank Turner, Pastor Ernie Plemmons and Pastor Roger Holland officiating.
