Mr. Henry Hoyte Murdock, 89, of Statesville, passed away, Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the Gordon Hospice House. Mr. Murdock was born June 17, 1925 in Iredell County and was the son of the late Thomas Hoyte Murdock and Mattie Lou Parlier Murdock. He was a graduate of Cool Spring High School and on July 20, 1947, was married to Louise Sides Murdock, who survives of the home. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII in the European African Threatre serving with the 838 Bomb Squadron. He was a member of LifePoint Church and was a well-known brick mason for over 60 years. He loved his church, enjoyed camping with his wife for many years and making a garden. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Mike Murdock (Colette) of Elmond, OK, one granddaughter, Amanda Murdock, one grandson, Scott Murdock, one sister, Louise M. McIntyre (Vic) of Statesville, two brothers, Bill Murdock (Jeanie) of Statesville, Milton Murdock of Ervin, TX and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2015 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Lingerfelt and Rev. Don Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Iredell County Burial detail. The family will visit with friends on Thursday evening 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Jim Daniels, Eddie Compton, Horton Weber, Jr., Evan Grose, Chris McIntyre, Brad Shook, Keith Sharpe and Kevin Speaks.
