Henry Forest Britt, 79, of Statesville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 08, 2014, at his home. Mr. Britt was born July 21, 1935, in Fairmont, NC to the late Henry Forest and Louise Barnes Britt. He graduated from Fairmont High School and served four years in the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the USS Kearsage and the USS Midway. Following his time in the Navy, he graduated from Campbell College (now University), attended UNC Chapel Hill and graduated with the 1962 class of St. Andrews Presbyterian College. In 1962, he married Betty Jean Reames at John Wesley United Methodist Church in Charleston, SC. They shared 51 � years together. He was employed with Abbott Laboratories for 32 � years as a professional medical representative. During his years, he was a member of the All Star Team a number of times. He was a former member of the Fourth Creek Rotary Club where he was a Paul Harris Fellow and received the District's Distinguished Rotarian Award in 2003. For several years he and his wife were assistant shag club teachers in Winston-Salem. They loved going to the beach for S.O.S. Henry was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon and also attended Broad Street United Methodist Church. Henry loved his Lord, his family, and his friends and will be greatly missed. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Forest L. Britt of Matthews, NC, Angie Egerton (Jim) of Maclesfield, NC, and J.C. Britt (Kristen) of Vero Beach, FL along with five grandchildren, Regan and Annie Britt of Charlotte, NC, Griffin and Grace Britt of Vero Beach, FL, and Samantha Egerton of Maclesfield, NC. He is also survived by two sisters, LaRue Hamm (Gene) of Raleigh, NC and Joan Bunn of Newsoms, VA and three brothers, Bill Britt (Shirley) of Nashville, TN, Austin H. Britt of Greenville, NC, and Jack Britt (Jane) of Fayetteville, NC. A service to celebrate the life of Henry Britt will be conducted 3:00 PM Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church in Alexander County with Rev. Steve Parks, Rev. Mitch King, and Rev. Dr. Michael Gehring officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday evening 7:00 until 8:30 PM at Nicholson Funeral Home and also on Wednesday at the church from 2:00 until 3:00 PM.
