Helen Gray Hudson Vernon, 88 of Summerfield, NC was a dedicated wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She finished her journey to her heavenly home, on January 8, 2021, after a battle with Ovarian Cancer Parkinsons Disease. Helen was born on June 18th, 1932, in Rockingham County to the late William Pinkney Hudson and Ollie Adelia Lester Hudson, where she was one of eleven (11) children. Helen was spunky, feisty and full of character. She always knew the right things to say and how to make us all laugh. She had a great love for yard sales, but she had the most love for her Sugar of 66 years, her late husband Harold Laymon Vernon. Helen was always proud of her work ethic, she worked proudly at Proctor Gamble for 35 years, where she retired in 1994. Helen was an iconic member of Liberty Wesleyan Church, where she played as the pianist and sang in the choir for many years. Helen is survived her son Keith; her daughter Cindy Rousseau (Gary); her grandchildren Britta Younts (Anthony), Katie Williams (Patrick), Amy Peterman (Brooks), Jordan Rousseau (Lauren), Dakota Rousseau and Alleyah Rousseau; and great grandchildren Chasity Younts, Jaden Williams, Cole Peterman, Ella Peterman, Lakin Williams and Finley Williams. Also, surviving were many special nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her infant daughter Ollie Annette Vernon, 5 sisters and 6 brothers. There will be a graveside service will be the church at 3:00 p.m. on January 12, 2021. Rev. Danny Janeswill officiate the service.
