Helen Tims Baity, 83, Statesville, passed away, Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011 at the Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Baity was born Nov. 28, 1927 in Burke County and was the daughter of the late Silas Walter and Rosa Lee Baker Tims. She was a graduate of Cool Spring High School and Mitchell College and on Sept.1, 1948, she was married to Robert Levan Baity, who preceded her in death on July 15, 1997. She was a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church, where she had held many offices, secretary/ treasurer, Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, etc. She also belonged to the Ladies Aux. of the "Cool Spring Volunteer Fire Department", where she held various offices. Mrs. Baity is survived by one son, Lynn R. Baity (Brenda) of Statesville, one daughter, Dianne Beach of Stony Point, two grandsons, Brian L. Baity (Shelly) of Statesville, Matthew R. Baity (Annette) of Statesville, four great grandchildren, Tori Baity, Kymbrlee Baity, Bayli Baity, Isabella Baity, one sister, Betty Lou Hallman (Jim) of Kannapolis and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Rose Marie Levan, who passed away on Jan. 6, 1992. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011 at Union Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. William Wease and Dr. Bobby Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home.
