Hazel (Broadway) Waugh

Mrs. Hazel Broadway Waugh, 69, of Claremont, NC passed away, Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at her home. Mrs. Waugh was born April 23, 1947 in Davie County and was the daughter of the late John “Bud” Broadway and Ruby Gales Broadway. She was a graduate of Davie County schools and was retired from Mocaro Industries. On March 18, 1977, she was married to Donald N. Waugh, who survives. In her free time, Hazel loved painting, traveling and camping. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Cindy Bolick (Jimmy) of Catawba, one grandchild, Megan Jarvis of Catawba, three step children, Carla Sopala (Michael) of Claremont, Billie Walker of Newton, Kathy Townsend (Charlie) of Hickory, eight step grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one sister, Mary B. Daugherty (Jerry) of China Grove. She was preceded in death by three sisters, five brothers and one step son. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Monday, January 9, 2017 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gerald Robinette officiating. Burial will follow in the No Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Monday from 1:00-2:00 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home.
