Mrs. Hazel Jane Loftin Tolbert, 95, of Cleveland, NC passed away, Friday, Feb. 18, 2011 at Davis Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Tolbert was born January 8, 1916 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Thomas Percy Loftin and Banie Lytton Loftin. She was a graduate of Troutman High School and on Dec. 24, 1947, was married to the late Rex. J. Tolbert, who passed away on March 20, 1997. She was a member of Cleveland First Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday School Teacher and member of the Mamie Fleming Sunday School Class and was retired from Davis Hospital. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Tolbert was preceded in death by three sisters, Eugenia Loftin, Virginia Overcash, Judith Ann Loftin, one brother, Forrest Loftin, one daughter-in-law, Catherine Tolbert and one great granddaughter, Casey Tolbert. Mrs. Tolbert is survived by three daughters, Jane T. Gibson (John) of Cleveland, Sue T. Whitley (Tony) of Asheboro, NC, Emily T. Gulledge (Lamar) of Locust Grove, GA, one son, Michael R. Tolbert of Statesville, two sisters, Martha Kirby and Thelma Tolbert, seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21, 2011 at Cleveland First Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Seagroves officiating. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3:00-5:30 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home.
