Hazel Christine Stewart Poole, 89, of Troutman, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 at her residence. She was born on July 25, 1929 in Iredell County to the late Adam Dillard Stewart and Foy Lee Shook Stewart.
Hazel attended Celeste Henkel and was married to Beauford Lonnie Poole on April 27, 1950. They shared over 38 years of marriage before his passing in 1988. She was a member of Troutman Baptist Church. Hazel was a homemaker and took great pride in raising and loving her family. She never met a stranger and was quick to brag about her grandbabies to any that would listen. Known by most as “Grandma”, she will be remembered most for her constant grin, unbreakable hugs, and precious wave “Bye.” She was the ultimate symbol of unconditional love to her family and everyone she met.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Donnie Ray Poole and a brother, Pete Stewart.
Left to cherish her memory are a son, Dale Poole (Deborah); granddaughter, Danielle Barnes (Jeff); grandson, Deven Poole (Jessi); four great grandchildren, Jaxon Dale and Delaney Hazel Barnes, Salem Olivia and Stella Grace Poole; three brothers, Sonny, Bootsie, and Booner Stewart; and two sisters, Kathy Benfield and Joyce Bolick.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Troutman Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. J. B. Parker, Jr. officiating and assisted by Rev. Roger Crider. The family will visit with friends following the service. A private family burial will be held in Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
