Mrs. Harriet Morrison Foster

Mrs. Harriet Morrison Foster, of North Race Street, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2019 at her residence.

She was born on August 30, 1936 in Statesville, North Carolina, and was the daughter of the late Thomas Andrew Morrison Sr. and Annie L. Morrison. On July 20, 1968 she was married to Robert L. Foster.

Mrs. Foster was a 1954 graduate of Morningside High School. She attended North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, N.C. She was employed in the Iredell-Statesville School System for 41 years and retired from Alan D. Rutherford School on July 1, 1996.

She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church where she served as a former Chalice Bearer, Oblation Bearer, Chancel Choir, Altar Guild, Pastoral Care Committee and the Cooking Team.

She was a member of Malissa Chapter No. 8 Order of the Eastern Star having served as Past Worthy Matron, Star Point, and other offices. She was also a member of Al Khattab Court No. 180 Daughters of Isis in Lexington, N.C. having served as Past Illustrious Commandress and also served in other positions.

Mrs. Foster was preceded in death in addition to her parents, one sister, Mrs. Mary E. Morrison, one brother, Thomas Andrew Morrison Jr. and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her devoted husband of 51 years, Bob, Mrs. Foster is survived by one dear sister, Betty Louise Morrison; nieces, Mary Helen Moten and Typhany M. Brooks; nephews, Chad (Angela) Moten and Keith Morrison; sister-in-law, Pearl F. Daniels and other dear relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church on Henkle Road at 11 AM on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 with the Reverend Brad Mullis, Rector officiating. The family will receive friends in the Holy Cross Room at Trinity Episcopal Church from 10 – 11 AM prior to the funeral service. Burial will be private in the Morrison Family Plot at the Belmont Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Mrs. Foster’s name to Trinity Episcopal Church, 801 Henkel Rd, Statesville, NC 28677 or Iredell County Hospice and Palliative Care, 2341 Simonton Rd, Statesville, NC 28625.
