Harold Wayne Smith, Sr.
April 27, 1939 — May 20, 2018
Harold Wayne Smith, Sr., 79, of Union Grove, returned to the God who gave him life on Sunday, May 20, 2018. He was born in Claremore, Oklahoma on April 27, 1939 to the late Orville and Elva Yeager Smith.
Mr. Smith served our country honorably as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army from 1956 – 1959. He married Elizabeth Marie Reid on June 13, 1958 and they shared over 57 years of marriage before her passing on December 9, 2015. He was a self-employed building contractor and farmer. Harold was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a former High Priest and Bishop in the church. Harold was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who loved working on the farm and playing golf.
Left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Sandy Edwards of Union Grove and Sherry Innocenzi and husband Michael of Harmony; one son, Harold Wayne Smith, Jr. of Arizona; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three brothers, three sisters; and many friends.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, May 25, 2018 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Ray Ruppe officiating. He will lie in state one hour prior to the service and burial with military honors will follow in the Grassy Knob Baptist Church Cemetery.
