Mr. Harold Vance Johnson, 80, of Hiddenite, N.C., died Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. He was born June 27, 1935 in Iredell County and was a son of the late James Edgar Johnson and Eva Menscer Johnson. On June, 30, 1959, he married the former Rachel Dishman, his wife of 56 years, who survives. He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Johnson and three sisters: Evelyn Jarrett, Pauline Stroud and Mable Cape. Harold served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War. He attended Harmony School and enjoyed golfing, cutting wood, helping people and serving his Lord. He was a member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Hiddenite. He worked at Southern Screw, then N.L. Fasteners and retired following 33 years of service. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Garold Johnson (Alicia) and a daughter, Lynette J. Goodwin (Travis) all of Statesville, granddaughters: Kristen Johnson and Danielle Moore and a grandson, C.J. Moore. Also surviving are a Daughter-In-Love, Tina Wilson (David) and grandkids-in-love, Dusty Wilson and Kryssy Hensley and another daughter-in-love, Sherri Wingler. Also surviving are brothers, James Edgar Johnson, Jr. (Hilda) of Statesville and Ray Frank (Peanut) Johnson (Nancy) of Lincolnton and a sister, Ellen Beckham of Statesville. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Tuesday at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Eades officiating. He will lie in state for thirty minutes at the church prior to the service and burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military rites. The family will visit with friends following the committal services in the church. Pallbearers will be: Dennis Mehl, Chris Sloan, Bronson Moose, Jimmy Kyles, Dwight Goodwin and Joel Privette.
