Grady Preston Johnson, 67, of Statesville, died Sunday, May 12, 2019 at Iredell Memorial Hospital.
He was born on January 28, 1952 in Iredell County to the late Rufus “John” Johnson and Blanche Johnson. He was also preceded in death by a brother; James Cothron.
Grady attended Iredell County Schools and was retired from Kenny Benfield Construction. He attended Foundation Fellowship. Grady loved working, fishing, camping, hunting and cooking on his port a pit. He loved his family and friends and always looked out for others. Grady was a jack of all trades and could fix most anything. He never met a stranger and was a loving person with a big heart and will truly be missed.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife; Faye Myers Johnson, a son; David Johnson, a daughter; Shannon Johnson; a step-son; Cecil Privette (Donna), a step-daughter; Jan Privette, 8 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, 3 sisters; Millie Johnson, Becky Dellinger, and Pat Shoemaker, and 2 brothers; Dale Pendergrass and Gary Johnson.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 6:00 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Frye officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.
The family requests that no flowers be sent, instead make memorials to West Iredell Dialysis Center, 115 Westbrook Lane, Statesville, NC 28625 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Rd., Statesville, NC 28625.
The family would like to give a special thanks to West Iredell Dialysis Center, Hospice of Iredell County and the staff of Iredell Memorial Hospice for the loving care given to Grady.
