Glenn Lewis Gilbert

Glenn Lewis Gilbert, 78, of Lenoir, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Catawba Valley Medical Center with his family by his side.  He was born in Caldwell County on February 14, 1937 to the late Carl Lee Gilbert, Sr. and Bertha Curtis Gilbert. Mr. Gilbert was educated in Collettesville schools and was of Baptist faith.  He was retired after having worked for Woodbury Lumber Company most of his life.  He was a loving brother and uncle who will be missed by all that knew him. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Albert Gilbert; and another brother, Preston Lee Gilbert along with four nephews and one niece. Left to cherish his memory are a brother, Carl Gilbert Jr. (Brenda) of Troutman five sisters, Carolyn G. Trivette (Ralph), Emma Whisnant, Frances Marler, Jean Hatley, and Lettie Moretz, all of Lenoir; 14 nephews and 6 nieces. Funeral services for Mr. Gilbert will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Temple Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Keever and Dr. Conley Matlock officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Mike Moretz, Gary Whisnant, J.D. Marler, Rodney Marler, Stanley Marler, Ralph Triplette, Daniel Cline, Frankie Cline, and Jonathan Kirby.  The family will visit with friends at the church prior to the service from 2:00 until 3:00 PM.
