Glenda Marie (Sanders) Merritt

Glenda Marie Sanders Merritt, 73, of Olin, passed away, Friday, January 20, 2017 at the Gordon Hospice House. Glenda was born August 16, 1943 in Alabama and was the daughter of the late L.B. Sanders and Astoria Babbs Sanders. She attended schools in Alabama and was married to Donald Bowlin, who survives. She previously worked for Shoney’s of Statesville and was an amazing person, mother and grandmother. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Ashley Brasington (Danny) of Statesville, Cathy Mitzel (Johnny) of Statesville, granddaughter whom she raised, Taylor Newton of Statesville, one son, Sammy Merritt, Jr. of AL, 17 grandchildren, Brennley Brasington, Emmalyn Brasington, Brooke Shinn, Taylor Newton, Annie Mitzel, Micki Mitzel, Danielle Patterson, Calvin Mathis, Jacob Daniels, Eric Daniels, Tyler Newton, Alex Selvig, Katelyn Merritt, Olivia Merritt, Noah Bragg, Jaxson Gatton, Payton Barker and one great grandchild, Dakotah Fulmer.She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Lori Selvig and Micki Newton. Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the family of Glenda Merritt.
