Glenda McNeese Jenkins, 69, of Statesville, passed away Monday, October 5, 2015 at Brookdale Clairbridge at Peachtree. She was born in Macon, Georgia on December 21, 1945 to the late William Lee McNeese and Bernice Jenkins McNeese McNown, who survives. Mrs. Jenkins attended Statesville Sr. High School and graduated from Cool Springs High School in 1964. On August 19, 1967, she married Charles Maurice Jenkins Sr., who survives. They had over 48 years of marriage before her passing. She was retired in 1997 from Bellsouth following 33 years of service. She was a member of New Salem United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Mildred Turner Circle. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Cool Springs VFD Ladies Auxiliary, and was a master gardener. Along with her father, Glenda was preceded in death by a brother, Charles McNeese. Left to cherish her memory are her mother and husband, Maurice; a son, Charles Maurice “Maury” Jenkins Jr. (Traci) of Statesville; a daughter, Amy Jenkins Cummings (Todd) of Statesville; a grandson, Layton Jenkins; three granddaughters, Paxton Jenkins, Madison Cummings, and Macy Cummings; and two brothers, Lynn McNeese (Connie) of Hickory and David McNeese (Alexis) of PA. Funeral services for Mrs. Jenkins will be held 2:00PM Friday, October 9, 2015 at New Salem United Methodist Church with Rev. David Gay, Dr. Mary John Dye, and Rev. Jan Brittain officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends following the service in the church Fellowship Hall. Active pallbearers will be Layton Jenkins, D.J. McNeese, Farrell Long, Mike Bowman, Eric Patterson and Terry Waller.
