Gladys Mayberry Drum, 98, Glenview, IL and formerly of Monticello Rd. in Statesville, passed away on December 8, 2010 at Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview, IL. She was born in Alexander County, NC on July 8, 1912 to the late Grover Cleveland Mayberry and Lavinna Mayberry. She attended Alexander County Schools, and worked for Hunter Manufacturing and Trailblazer by Winchester. On April 21, 1934 she married Thomas Clifford Drum, who preceded her in death on January 9, 2000. She was a lifelong member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church in Statesville and regularly attended until she moved to Illinois to live with her daughter, Kay Drum Sholis and son-in-law, Vic Sholis in 2005. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Grover Guy Mayberry and three sisters, Sue Mayberry Morrow, Bera Mayberry Mayes Moore and Prema Mayberry Beck Harris. In addition to daughter and son-in-law, she is survived by a grandson, Brian Joseph Sholis and wife, Julia Dault of Brooklyn, NY and a granddaughter, Amy Katherine Sholis of Madison, WI. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 13, 2010 at Diamond Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Holleman officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Following the burial, there will be a luncheon at the church.
