Geraldine Galliher Smith, 89, of Harmony, passed away Monday, December 30, 2013 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. She was born in Iredell County on September 21, 1924 to the late James Coleman Galliher and Flossie Stroud Galliher. Mrs. Smith was a graduate of Harmony High School and was married on February 24, 1945 to Thomas Asbury Smith who preceded her in death. She was a seamstress and a homemaker who was a member of Rock Spring Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher and choir member. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Asbury Smith; an infant son, Jerry Neal Smith; and four sisters, Dorothy Galliher, Evelyn Fraley, Peggy Jean Willard, and Mary Stroud along with two brothers, Lawrence and Dwight Galliher. Mrs. Smith is survived by a daughter, Caroldine Smith Winebarger (Eugene); three sons, Gary Thomas Smith (Linda), Kenny Lee Smith (Susan), and Randal Allen Smith (Carolyn), all of Harmony; 11 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren. She is further survived by one brother, Ernest Ray Galliher, and one sister, Louise Anderson. Funeral services for Geraldine Smith will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, January 2, 2013 at Rock Spring Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Manners and Joshua Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends 6:00 until 8:00 pm Wednesday evening at Nicholson Funeral Home.
