Geraldine Butler Hill (January 1, 1929 – May 29th, 2024)
Geraldine Hill passed away peacefully at Hinkle Hospice House on May 29th at the age of 95.
Geraldine (known as Gerri to friends and Mom & Nana to family) was a new year’s baby born
January 1, 1929 in Lexington, NC to Earlie A & Essie (Harvey) Butler. She was preceded in
death by her parents, her husband Gerald Lee Hill, and her granddaughter Dedra Jo Clark.
Gerri retired from Lexington City Schools as School Food Service Supervisor. She was a
wonderful cook, avid reader and library patron, and was known for her beautiful needlework.
Gerri was a long-time member of the First Reformed United Church of Christ where she sang in
the choir and was part of the Prayer Shawl Ministry. She is survived by her sister Connie
Weichert, children Tracy Hill (Dianne), Belinda Yates (Eddie), and Barbara Hill. She was Nana
to grandchildren Evan Hill, Tyler Hill, Allyson Clark, and Sam Yates (Karen) & great
grandchildren, Avery, Maddie, Parker, Penny, Milo, & Mayzie. Funeral Service will be Sunday,
June 2nd at First Reformed United Church of Christ at 3:00 pm with visitation at 1:30 pm in the
church parlor. Private inurnment will follow in the church columbarium. We request that
everyone enjoy an ice cream cone, read a good book, & feed the birds in celebration of her life.
