Fred Chapman, Jr

February 23, 1952 — April 24, 2017

Fred Chapman Jr, 65 of Stony Point and most recently Troutman, stepped into the waiting arms of Jesus on Monday April 24, 2017 at Gordon Hospice House surrounded by family.  Mr. Chapman served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Air Force.  Later he served his community as a member of the Iredell County Sheriff's Department and in 2001 retired as a Lieutenant from the Statesville Police Department.  He loved being outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and riding horses.  Mr Chapman is survived by daughter Jackie (Brandon) Parker of Troutman, daughters Kimberly (Joe) Parlier and Kelsey (Nick) Barker and their mother Sue Chapman, all of Stony Point.  Grandchildren include Cassin Chapman, Madison and Emma Parker, and Chaise Parlier.  He is also survived by a brother, John (Gail Elmore) Chapman of Catawba, sisters Trisha Abbott and Marsha (Tim) Boan of Harmony, step-mother Mary Sue Chapman of Pilot Mountain, step-brother Jim (Lisa) Pell of Pilot Mountain and Tim (Debbie) Pell of Missouri.  A number of nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by brother Jimmy Chapman, nephew Ryan Boan, mother Beulah Ford Dickson, and most recently father Fred Chapman Sr.  Visitation for family will be at Nicholson’s Funeral home on Friday April 28, 2017 from 6-8 pm. Funeral will be held Saturday April 29, 2017 at 2:00pm at Freedom Baptist Church in Hiddenite, NC.  Burial will follow with full military honors provided by the DAV Chapter 84 of Alexander County.  Memorials can be made to Huntington's Disease Society of America (HDSA) 505 Eighth Avenue, Suite 902, New York, NY 10018 or online at www.hdsa.org/donate .
