Franklin Boyd Daniels

Mr. Franklin Boyd Daniels, 81, of Charlotte, died Saturday, February 21, 2015 at his home. Born in Iredell County on September 25, 1933, he was a son of the late Boyd William Daniels and Eva Hopkins Daniels. Mr. Daniels was an accountant and retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a mail handler. He was an avid baseball fan enjoying the Yankees and Braves. He graduated from Statesville High School, Mitchell Community College and Lenoir Rhyne College. He played baseball at Statesville High. He also played softball in the local church softball league and enjoyed going to the beach, bowling and hunting. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 until 1956 serving in the Mediteranean . He was preceded in death by a sister, Eva Nell Gryder. Survivors include his wife, the former Barbara Harris, a son, Frankie Gene Daniels (Lace) of Greenville, S.C., a daughter, Lisa Daniels Robertson (Steve) of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and brothers, Richard and Steven Daniels, both of Statesville.  Also surviving are 7 grandchildren:Christopher, Maria and Sarah Robertson, Cecilea Roseboro, Heather Jakowczak, Claire and Olivia Daniels and 6 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Christ-Boulevard United Methodist Church with Rev. Ron Daub, Rev. Joe Parker and Rev. J. C. Parks  officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 P.M. at the church prior to the service. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery with Military Rites presented by the Iredell County Veterans Council Burial Detail.
