Frank “Pete” Wilson Futrell, Jr., 76, of Statesville, passed away, Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. Pete was born April 5, 1941 in Suffolk, VA and was the son of the late Frank Wilson Futrell and Helen Jurney Futrell. He was a graduate of Statesville High School, class of 1959 and N.C. State University with a degree in Engineering. On June 26, 1965, he married his high school sweetheart, Martha Shell Futrell, who survives. He was a member of First ARP Church in Statesville where he served as an Elder. Pete also served in the US Army during the Vietnam War as a 1st Lieutenant. He worked for Hunt Manufacturing for 30 years in Cincinnati, OH, and held various roles from Plant Manager to VP of Operations. Pete and Martha returned to Statesville in 2006. He enjoyed playing golf, playing his guitar, going to the beach and especially spending time with Martha, his sons and grandchildren. In addition to his wife of 52 years, Pete is survived by two sons, Dr. Peter Rockwell Futrell (Chris) of Atlanta, GA and John Wesley Futrell (Christine) of Williamsburg, VA as well as his four grandchildren, Nick, Megan, Jacob and Zachary. A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017 at First ARP Church in Statesville with Rev. Phillip McCoy officiating.
