Mrs. Frances Carolyn Stikeleather Mayberry, 83, of Statesville, passed away Friday, November 18, 2011, at Rosewood Assisted Living in Harmony, N.C. Mrs. Mayberry was born January 6, 1928 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Lemuel Russell Stikeleather and Frances Carolyn Stikeleather. She attended Iredell County schools and on February 12, 1944, she married Joseph Lellion Mayberry, who preceded her in death in December 1975. Mrs. Mayberry was a homemaker and a member of Yadkin Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and she cooked meals in the church as well as for the community. Along with her parents and husband, Mrs. Mayberry was also preceded in death by three brothers, Jim Stikeleather, Lewis Stikeleather and Robert Stikeleather along with two sisters, Leona Shoemaker and Lucille Stamper. Mrs. Mayberry is survived by one daughter, Carol M. Jenkins (J.C.) of Statesville; three granddaughters, Denise Wooten, Jan Rodecker (Von) and Teresa Weber along with one grandson, Jamie Jenkins (Julie), all of Statesville. She is further survived by one brother, Ben Stikeleather and one sister, Shirley Safriet, both of Statesville. Eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Mayberry will be conducted 3:00 pm Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Yadkin Baptist Church with Rev. Tony E. Bunton, Rev. Rick Safriet, Rev. Ruel Fox and Rev. Dale Milstead officiating. The family will visit with friends from 2:00 until 3:00 pm Sunday at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
