Frances (Warren) Lankford

Frances Warren Lankford, 88, of Statesville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 22, 2017, at her home.  Mrs. Lankford was born May 31, 1928, in Valdese, NC and was the daughter of the late M.L. and Rachel Perrou Warren.  She was a graduate of Valdese High School and Asheville Cosmetology School.  She was married September 22, 1946, to John Claude Lankford, who preceded her in death in 2008. She was a hairdresser in Valdese and Hamlet, NC for a number of years. In Statesville, she was a supervisor at Bali Apparels for 10 years.  Mrs. Lankford was a member of Pressly Memorial ARP Church where she played the organ for over 36 years and taught Sunday school.   She was also a member of Forest Park Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir, cooked meals for the Senior group and was very active in the Presbyterian Women. Mrs. Lankford is survived by one daughter, Kay Landford Fox and husband Bobby (Bud) N. Fox of Statesville. A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday, January 26, 2017, at the Waldensian Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Valdese, NC.  A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM Thursday at Forest Park Presbyterian Church with Rev. Scott Jeffreys officiating.  The family will speak to friends following the service.  Mrs. Lankford will lie in state on Wednesday evening at Nicholson Funeral Home.
