Floyd Richard Hartness

Mr. Floyd Richard Hartness, 86, of Statesville, passed away, Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Iredell Memorial Hospital.                 Mr. Hartness was born July 21, 1928 in Alexander County and was the son of the late Robert “Bob” and Nancy “Chattie” Brinkley Hartness. He attended Alexander County schools and was first married to Louise Pearson Hartness, who passed away in the early 1950’s. On September 9, 1956 he was married to the late Eula Kate Jordan Hartness, who passed away on August 29, 1996. He was a member of Bright Light Baptist Church, was retired from Blue Ridge Textiles, loved painting cars, finishing furniture and especially loved fishing.                 Mr. Hartness is survived by one son, Samuel Ray Jordan (Lona) of Statesville, one daughter, Rebecca Kaye H. Miller (Keith) of Statesville, 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.                 In addition to his parents and his two wife’s, he was preceded in death by four sons, Larry Wayne, Richard Amos, Jimmy Lee, and Kenneth Eugene; two daughters, Patricia Ann and Margie Sue; one grandson, Samuel Ray II; and eight siblings.                 Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sam Jordan, Rev. Roger Holland and Rev. Buster Treadaway officiating. Burial will follow in the Bright Light Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday evening 6:00-8:00 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Kaye Miller.                 Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the family of Mr. Floyd Hartness.
