Faye Lynn Shuttz (Johnson) died peacefully on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Faye was born on January 3, 1950, the daughter of Luther Johnson and Norma (Rodgerson) Johnson. Faye was born in Gary, Indiana and lived most of her life in Indiana, until moving to Lexington, North Carolina in 2023. She worked in many different occupations throughout her life, but they all shared the common theme of caring for others. She served as a childcare provider, worked in customer service, spent time as a cook for fraternities at Purdue University, and ultimately, as a home-health aide. She is preceded in death by her parents (Norma Rodgerson Johnson & Luther Johnson) as well as many aunts and cousins. She is survived by her brother, Martin Johnson (Traci), her three children, Ryan Shuttz (LaDona), Christine Raches, and Eric Shuttz (Allison), her 9 grandchildren (William Raches, Charlotte Raches, Katherine Raches, Elijsha Shuttz, Issiac Shuttz, Dylan Shuttz, Conner Shuttz, Mackenzie Shuttz,
and Noah Shuttz), and her niece (Morgan Johnson) and nephew (Kyle Johnson).
Faye was happiest when she was surrounded by family and friends. While she was an amazing mother, friend, daughter, and sister, her favorite label in life was "grandma." There was no one prouder of their grandchildren than Faye. She could often be found sitting on the sidelines or in the bleachers of one of her grandchildren's events, screaming and yelling so that everyone knew who she was there to see. She
would tell a stranger how amazing her grandchildren were and what they were doing. When there were not sporting or band events to attend, she stayed busy with her friends, going to lunch, traveling, and spending time at the beach on vacation. She was an avid Indiana Hoosier basketball fan and enjoyed watching the games.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 12:00pm, at Clermont Church- The Nazarene (3330 North 1 st Avenue, Clermont, Indiana 46234). While in Lexington, NC, she became very active in the Davidson County Senior Center Welcome Nutrition Site and told stories about her many adventures with this group. In lieu of flowers, her family is asking that those wanting to celebrate her life consider a donation in memory of Faye Shuttz to Davidson County Senior Services, 555 West Center Street, Lexington, NC 27295.
