Mrs. Faydean Shook Massey, 90, of Statesville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at the Gordon Hospice House.
Mrs. Massey was born in Iredell County on April 28, 1929 and was the daughter of the late Clarence Shook and Pearl Stewart Shook. She graduated from Celeste Hinkle School and on November 19, 1945 she married Leon Massey and together they shared 66 years of marriage until his passing on August 17, 2012.
Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Massey was employed with Elmer’s Glue in the quality control dept and was a member of Eufola Baptist Church.
Mrs. Massey loved working in her gardens, both her vegetable and flower gardens. She was a NASCAR fan and loved going to the beach and was very fond of country music. Nothing compared to the love she had for her children and grandchildren. She will live on in the memory of her family, all of whom will miss her dearly.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Ronnie Massey (Sonna) of Harmony and Bobby Massey (Carol) of Statesville, one daughter, Pam Nicholson (Don) of Hiddenite and two brothers, James Shook (Phyllis) of Michigan and Clarence “Dude” Shook (Mary) of Statesville. Six grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services honoring the life of Faydean Massey will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, May 25 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roger Crider officiating. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the funeral service and burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
