Fay Gwendola (Millsaps) Mason

July 11, 1937 — February 21, 2015

Mrs. Fay Gwendola Millsaps Mason, 77, of Statesville, died Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the Gordon Hospice House. Born in Rowan County on July 11, 1937, she was a daughter of the late William Virgil Millsaps and Irene Givens Millsaps.  She was a member of Rocky Hill Baptist Church and worked in textiles for 37 years. She graduated from Central High School where she was a star basketball player. On Octrober 19, 1957, she married Mr. Walter F. Mason who survives. Also surviving are sons:  Curtis Mason, Clark Mason (Carol) and Darrell Mason (Ramona) and daughters: Linda Phillips (Jerry), Pam Hurley (Steve) and Sandra Mason. Also surviving are grandchildren: Jessica Mason, Melissa Mason, Angela Mason, Darrell Mason, Jr., Joshua Mason, Sara Mason, Brandon Phillips (Amanda), Jenny Mason, Tyler Phillips, John Mason, Adam Hurley, Nicole Wilson and Jeffrey Hurley along with 7 great grandchildren. Five brothers and five sisters and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Services celebrating her life will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Rocky Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Henry Cook and Rev. Ervil Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the church. Condolences may be sent online to the family to www.nicholsonfunerals.com .
