Eva Pauline “Polly” Angel Wilhelm, 79, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the Gordon Hospice House. She was born in Franklin, NC on August 16, 1938 to the late Paul and Alma Sanders Angel.
Mrs. Wilhelm was a graduate of Franklin High School and was married to John Ray Wilhelm on July 24, 1965. They shared over 52 years of marriage before her passing. She worked earlier in her career at Mitchell’s Drug Store in Highland, NC for seven years. Then after her marriage, she was a teacher’s assistant at Monticello School in Iredell County for over 20 years. She was a member of Christ Boulevard United Methodist Church. Polly loved teaching and the school children and being around the home gardening and canning.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe and Jack Angel along with a sister, Kate Angel Dalton.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Ray; two daughters, Cheri W. Snead (Paul) and Kimberly W. Guay (Richard), all of Statesville; four grandchildren, Braylon Guay, Emma Guay, Rebecca Snead, and Nathan Snead; one brother, Homer Angel of Franklin, NC; and two sisters, Phyllis A. Leopard of Michigan and Jewel A. Walker of Marion, NC.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wilhelm will be held 11:00 am Saturday, March 24, 2018 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 9:30 am until 11:00 am.
