Ernest Spetter, 81, of Statesville, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 15, 1937 to the late Jacob and Bessie Bernstein Spetter.
Mr. Spetter was graduate of Coyne Electrical College and Grossmont College and served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy. He was true patriot and most of his family followed in his footsteps by being part of our military. Ernest was an electronics expert and worked for the U.S. Government repairing radar and sonar devices before his retirement. He aided our government by working as a Quality Assurance Inspector in Saudi Arabia for decades. He was Commander of American Legion China Post 1 Jubail and served as Vice Commander Worldwide China Post 1. Ernest was a certified scuba instructor and entertained many people as Carlton the Clown. He touched many people and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nanci Spetter; a brother, Harold Spetter and a daughter, Bessie Annette Spetter.
Left to cherish his memory are three daughters, Carol S. Wingate (Richard), Audrey S. Byram, and Jackie S. Benavides (Carlos); three sons, Ernie J. Spetter, Ray Spetter, and Jacob Spetter (Janae); two stepchildren, Tommy and Lisa; 15 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; two former wifes, Audry Campbell Spetter and Shiloy Spielman Spetter; and his nephew, Scott Doleman (Amy) and family.
A graveside service with military honors provided by American Legion Post 65 will be held at a later date at the Salisbury National Cemetery.
